If a water-based product was previously used on the wood and it needs a maintenance coat, the prior product will need to be either removed by power washing or sanding which can damage the wood. Second, Wood Defender products do not contain insecticides. A benefit of the Wood Defender oils is that it does deter insects from occupying the wood which promotes longevity of your investment.

Lastly, Wood Defender products also provide mold and mildew inhibitors as well as providing UV protection in the transparent, semitransparent, and series 200 stain products.
